It important to know how to reach Bhitarkanika and Estuarine Village Resort Bhitarkanika. Estuarine Village Resort, located in the vicinity of Bhitarkanika National Park, is some 165km from Bhubaneswar via National Highway (Via Cuttack and Chandikhole) or around 146km via State Highway (Via Cuttack and Salepur). Travel time between Bhubaneswar and Estuarine Village Resort Bhitarkanika is usually around 3.5 hours.

How to Reach BhitarkanikaSince the last leg of around 30km of the route crosses through villages, it is advisable to remain in touch with the contact person at the resort for proper guidance. Please keep in mind we are located around 4km from Khola, where forest gate is located.

Some of the guests coming from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack or Paradeep sometimes make a mistake at a junction in Rajnagar and they go towards Gupti side of Bhitarkanika instead of coming towards Khola.

Please make sure you do not go towards Gupti from Rajnagar. Your destiny is towards Khola. It is also easy to use navigation on Google Maps to get the right direction.

How to reach Bhitarkanika from Kolkata? For this, you have to first reach Bhadrak using the National Highway which goes towards Chennai. From Bhadrak take a left to go towards Chandbali. Pass through Chandbali and Raj Kanika to reach Pattamundai. From Pattamundai take left towards Rajnagar. From Rajnagar, take left to go towards Khola. Estuarine Village Resort is around 4km beyond Khola on the road which runs parallel to the river and goes towards Nalitapatia Village. The resort is by the side of the river. You can see the boards displaying the resort name.

You can always use GPS to get the right direction. The only precaution for those coming from Kolkata side while using GPS is not to go towards Jaynagar, while going ahead of Raj Kanika, which comes a little after Chandbali. You have to compulsorily proceed towards Pattamundai.

How to reach Bhitarkanika from Bhadrak? It is mentioned above in the description for people coming from Kolkata. From Bhadrak onwards routes are same. But those coming from Bhadrak can call the resort and ask the manager to arrange a pick up from Bhadrak Railway Station.



HOW TO REACH BHITARKANIKA FROM BHUBANESWAR :

There are two routes from Bhubaneswar.

1st Alternative:- From Bhubaneswar – Via Cuttack and Chandikhole  

Bhubaneswar – Cuttack – Keep driving on NH 16 (erlier called NH5 which goes towards Kolkata) – Chandikhole – take a right turn from Chandikhole towards Paradip – Drive around 35-40km straight – Take left towards Kendrapara – Drive on the State Highway for around 21km to reach Pattamundai – Pass through the market and follow the main route – Drive around 22km to reach Rajnagar – Cross over the Rajnagar bridge built over River Brahmani – Take left from the junction towards Khola – Take right at the junction and continue straight for around 28km to reach Estuarine Village Resort Bhitarkanika.

In the last leg, you will pass through Jarimul, Ishwarpur and then Khola Forest Check Gate on your left – Continue around half a km straight and cross a small bridge – Take immediate left after the bridge on to the concrete road running parallel to the river – Drive for around 3.5km – Estuarine Village Resort is on the right side of road. There is a board at the front gate of the resort displaying the name of the resort. You can also see a lot of trees planted in the resort.

Please Note: – The Road has two tolls; one on the Cuttack – Chandikhole segment and another on Chandikhole – Kendrapara Segment

2nd Alternative: How to Reach Bhitarkanika from Bhubaneswar – Via Cuttack and Salepur

BhubaneswarCuttack – Keep driving on NH 16 (earlier called NH5 which goes towards Kolkata) – After driving around (passing the Mahandi River Bridge), leave the National highway going under the flyover to take a right turn from Manguli towards Jajpur Industrial Area – Keep driving straight towards Salepur. It is 29km from Manguli Chowk – Drive Straight on the State Highway for another 36km to reach Kendrapara – Drive on the State Highway for around 21km to reach Pattamundai – Pass through the market and follow the main route – Drive around 22km to reach Rajnagar – Cross over the Rajnagar bridge built over River Brahmani – Take left from the junction towards Khola – Take right at the junction and continue straight for around 28km to reach Estuarine Village Resort Bhitarkanika.

Estuarine Village Resort Bhitarkanika is a drive of around 400km and it takes around 9 hours. Drive to Bhadrak using the National Highway 16 which goes towards Chennai. From Bhadrak, take a left turn to go towards Chandbali. Pass through Chandbali and Raj Kanika to reach Pattamundai. From Pattamundai take left to go towards Rajnagar. From Rajnagar, take a left to go towards Khola. The resort is around 4km beyond Khola on the road which runs parallel to the river and goes towards Nalitapatia Village. The resort is by the side of the river.

HOW TO REACH BHITARKANIKA FROM BHADRAK RAILWAY STATION :

Get Down at Bhadrak Railway Station and take a taxi to drive to Kasturikona Ghat – a drive of nearly 65km. You can call the resort and ask manager to arrange a car (chargeable basis) for this. The manager will also arrange a boat (chargeable basis) at KasturiKona Ghat for you to cross the river. It takes some 15-20 minutes to cross the river. If it is high tide you can get down just in front of the resort. If it is low tide at the time of your arrival, you can get down at Nalitapatia River Jetty. The resort manager will arrange an auto (chargeable basis) in advance to transfer you to the resort. The jetty is around 600-700 metres from the resort.
